With time, our priorities change, from pre cambrian era of nothingness to the industrial era of using nature’s bounty to serve our yearnings of development and now a newer reality of virtuality where machines are getting smarter than the ideas which formed the basis to create them, we have come a long way. From the hindsight, it’s certain that every change brings some implications, if acted upon in a way that maximises positive impact, else ramifications, if the actions are bound to give meaning to our greed in the name of advancement. We have had both but ramifications are way too high. It’s evident from the lifeless rivers, dusted skies, dejected mountains, gruntled seas, rains with raged rancour surreptitiously absorbing the heat from the usually generous sun. Nature is vulnerable though it doesn’t need help it can heel itself if allowed to do so, but it’s caged between one’s need& greed.
Nature: one can romanticise in myriad ways that please her, but it now wants freedom, freedom from a relationship of handling everything singlehandedly while the other end is oblivious to the efforts made by her!
How can we free her? Without her we find no existence, we might someday move to mars or some proxia centauri when we’d make her a dilapidated heritage of callousness?
Where are we heading? Is this idea of sustainable development just some ‘hollow promises’ in letter only but the spirit is nowhere? When world leaders meet in the most ostentatious summits with their best set of diplomats, acting like they feel the urgency to take an initiative to mitigate something imminent, the claims they make to reduce greenhouse gas emissions or preserve nature ,do they mean all that? How far are the results seen if not tangible ,then never felt, in my sense. A tiny crowned protein still a mystery, as some cite China’s vicious vision to imperil the world as it’s origin, whatever may the case be, nature hasn’t yet shown us that it would be apocalyptic someday, when she will show the not so ‘ cooperating nature’. The mansions we have built will be the first to abandon us, the mobility we’ve enjoyed with our much celebrated inventions of jets, will suffocate us, the factories of production will be facilities of abduction, these roads, flyovers will crumble with a gush of wind!
A little crowned protein is this much pain to our economies then an apocalypse will be what? A quagmire of ‘once upon a time’? I hope we don’t reach there, still there is so much hope in nature itself, it isn’t planning any backstabbing for now but we need to be cautious, if we want our future ilk to live& not curse us. Times are calling, with Covid 19 many lessons can be drawn, starting with ‘being responsible’,because what we throw comes back in ways we don’t contemplate, but things have their ways of coming back in the most unprecedented ways. History repeats itself, i hope there will be people to read our history.
So think of the blue sky, blue ocean, green mountains, snow clad peaks, flowers of ethereal colours, clouds of the loudest roar, starts of glittery grace, moon of flawed grandeur, solitude of sun, sigh of relief in the air, waking up to the bird’s ballades, think of life.
This Environment’s day start off with a responsibility as that of a superhero, you can save your environment! Be your own version of ‘Environmental sapien’.
My confession
Ohh dear nature,
when i am confined in the four walls i am greedy, i want world’s treasures in my lap, i want to conquer something wider than earth’ s radius but when i am with you, in your magnanimity ,I’m nothing just an admirer relishing your every movement, you set me free, free from my possessions of voracity,my dismay, my failures, my secrets, i am grateful to you, you are the only answer to my frivolous questions,in the darkness of endless wanting you are the giver!
Thanks!
Yours shiwangi❤
